Necessary Expenses

I have been quite lax about updating my blog lately. Today is the first day I've felt close to normal in the past couple of weeks. I've been sick since sometime in January, I'm not sure if it is a cold, or what, but I've been under the weather. Life just isn't too much fun when you fall asleep as soon as you get home at 4:00. I've been taking it easy, taking the pills the doctor gave me and sleeping as much as possible. Hopefully, this most recent round of antibiotics will kill all the bugs and I'll be back to myself soon enough. I thank my lucky stars that I have insurance, though...I don't even want to know how expensive my trip to the doctor would have been without it. I do know that the anitibiotic I'm on would have been $82 without insurance...a lot more than the $12 I had to pay.

Thursday is the day that I went to see the doctor. After I got out of the office, I admit that I did shop a bit. I went to Goody's, which is going out of business. I bought two pairs of jeans, a pair of dress pants and three nice pairs of dress shoes for a grand total of $56. One pair of shoes was origionally marked at $55, so I feel like I got a pretty decent deal. I am absolutely in love with one pair of the shoes, they are quite a bit more comfortable than the $6 flip flops I usually buy ever summer. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so that I can wear them. Now that I've lost some weight, I feel more comfortable wearing high heels and bought my first pair. I'm looking forward to the ice going away so that I can wear them safely (thanks to a fall on the ice last year, I stick to shoes with good tread in the winter). I also spent $50 at Wal-Mart, but I got some basic things like 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes, groceries, and the like...so I don't feel that I did too bad. My resolve was weaker, I think, because I was sick, but I havn't stepped foot in a store since then, so I am trying to make up for my slip.

I spent today reading a good book (Kim Harrison's The Outlaw Demon Wails) and dozing off and on. I planned to sleep in this morning, but I woke to a cold kitty paw on my face. When I sleep too long, or too deeply, my cat, Skidget, gets concerned and tries to wake me up. It can be irritating, but normally once I pet her for a little bit, she lets me go back to sleep. This morning, she must have been trying to remind me that I needed to feed her because she wouldn't let me go back to sleep. When I rolled over, she just crawled over me and licked my nose. I'm rather glad she did...it was nearing 11:00 and I needed to go to the post office this morning. I mailed my tax returns. I'm looking forward to getting my refund check, nearly $1,500!!! Normally I get about $100 back, but last year was my first full year of having a full time job, so I paid in significantly more than I had in previous years. Next year I may attempt to do my own taxes, but I will probably hire someone to do them again. I've always had them done by someone in my hometown, I like the safety that gives me. I wonder how much H and R Block charges...they seem to have a lot of commercials...

Well, that's all I have for now, I'm sorry if this post is a bit more rambling than most...I'm still rather out of it, but thought I'd let everyone know I'm still alive and am finally starting to feel better.
