Okay, today I didn't leave the house, but I still managed to spend $26.00. This past week, while sick, I read all of the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison. I was browsing my Paperback Swap Wish List and saw that I had one of the series on my Wish List. I thought I owned them all, but apparently a new book is coming out on Tuesday. I know I should wait to get it through PBS, but I'm impatient, and I just read the others, so I went ahead and ordered it on Amazon. It was only $16.00, over $10.00 less than I would have paid for it in a bookstore. The problem is, that to get free shipping I had to spend $9.00 more, so I wound up buying another book, one of the Voluntary Simplicity books I have been wanting for quite awhile. I should get the books in a week or so, so that will be a nice surprise. I really like getting books by mail, it makes me feel like I'm getting a present.
I did manage to avoid buying the DVD binder I finally found online. I bought some DVD binders to organize my DVD collection on clearance at Pamida last summer. I have been looking for one like them for quite awhile, but to no avail. I finally found them on Walmart.com today (I know, I shouldn't have been looking there...but it is safer than getting out and going window shopping). I bookmarked the page, and will probably wind up buying another binder before my garage sale, so that I can sell the empty DVD cases and make some of the money back.
After my Amazon splurge, I reviewed student papers for the rest of the day while doing laundry. I read a bit, folded a bit, and it worked pretty well. I got six papers reviewed, and got three loads of laundry done. I also managed to watch some of the NCIS marathon, though I sort of zoned out a lot. I'm not sure, but I think I took a quick nap sometime this afternoon as well. You know, one of those naps when you're half awake and your eyes are open but you just space out? I finally have a bit more energy and haven't taken my cough medicine since this morning, so that's good. I'll take it to go to sleep, but maybe I'll be over this cold by the middle of the week.
I'm hoping this final load of laundry gets dry soon, my comfy red pajama pants are in the dryer and I'm quite ready for bed. I'm sitting here in some not so comfy black work out pants (they have seams down the outside of the leg and I always wake up with bruises) and for some reason I still have a pair of my new shoes on. I guess I feel that I have to justify their purchase by wearing them...actually, I just think I'm trying to get them broken in before I wear them out for something. Last year I wore a pair of shoes to graduation for the first time and had blisters before I was inside the building...never again...I learned my lesson and wear my shoes around the house a bit first now. Okay, I'm rambling again and the dryer just buzzed, so it is time for bed.
I am posting all of my entries here and on my new website www.yearoffrugality.com, so feel free to go ahead and start reading over there. I am updating both of them, and will eventually phase this one out.
