On Monday, I still felt bad, so I called my doctor and asked for more antibiotic. I am quite glad that I have insurance, as the pills I am now taking would have been over $120 had I not had coverage. Even with insurance, they were $35, still quite pricey. In honor of spending so much money, I haven't even been in a store this week. I haven't gotten groceries or anything, and feel like I've probably saved quite a bit of money. I did spend some money tonight, I went out to supper with a colleague. I don't feel too bad about it, though...I do need to have a social life and I have enough leftovers to feed me for a week. Ten dollars isn't too bad for an evening out.
I'm reading a book Money, A Memoir: Women, Emotions and Cash at the moment. So far, it is a very interesting book. It's slow going, though, since I got White Witch, Black Curse in the mail on Tuesday. Naturally, I had to get it read, I'd been waiting for it. It was an excellent book, I really would recommend it to anyone who reads paranormal romance (though you have to read the other six books in the series to know what's going on).
This weekend, I'm planning on having some people over to BBQ and play a game or two of cards. It is a nice, inexpensive way to have fun. I haven't played Spades for quite awhile, so it should be fun.
In the coming weeks, I'm going to try to stay out of even grocery stores, unless it is absolutely necessary. I shouldn't need anything but milk and eggs for awhile. I have enough frozen meals to last a long time, and I still have hamburger and all the other ingredients to make some killer spaghetti. Until I stayed out of the stores completely, I didn't realize how often I had been going shopping for groceries, and how often I was able to talk myself into something that I didn't really need. In order to help with this, I've stopped carrying my credit and debit cards with me on everyday trips. I normally keep them hidden in my car so that I have them in case of emergency, but they aren't there tempting me into buying more than I can afford and I only spend part of the cash I have on hand.
Buying only those things Made in America hasn't been as difficult as I thought it would be. It will probably be difficult next week, when I make my journey to Kansas City. I have gone from a size 26-28 to a 20-22 in the past few months, so none of my old clothes still fit, so I have $50 to buy new clothes in Kansas City. I have a feeling it will be difficult to find clothes which are “Made in America.” I'll keep you updated on how easy/difficult this is.
I hope that everyone is doing well, and has a happy, frugal weekend.
